Michele final



Michele is a solicitor in the Church and Charities team, specialising in charity structures, governance, compliance, fundraising and philanthropy. She is sought after for her skills in crisis management, resolving trustee disputes and serious incident reporting. Michele also works with the Private Client team, especially on wills and probates where there is a charity connection.

With over 25 years’ experience in contentious matters, Michele enjoys her role as Head of Litigation where she manages overall case strategy with colleagues in Dispute Resolution and Employment law.

Michele has extensive experience in the challenges facing charities and their trustees, having worked in house at a national military charity and a church charity.

Recent Experience

  • Identified as a key lawyer within the charities team in the latest Legal 500 ratings
  • Settling a long running and difficult safeguarding matter with IICSA connections, working with a multi-disciplinary team including PR specialists
  • Settling a difficult international safeguarding case involving vulnerable children
  • Representing a charity in a compliance case involving allegations of links to terrorism
  • Representing a trustee subject to serious allegations of defrauding charitable funds
  • Advising City of London Livery Companies on their conversion to CIO
  • Succeeded in completing a long running and protracted transfer to a CIO to secure valuable assets for a charity
  • Acting as facilitator in a number of board disputes to enable charities to set new objectives and formulate strategy
  • Delivering a number of well received training session for trustees and charity umbrella organisations such as the FSI, Small Charities Coalition and One Westminster
  • Delivering MBL webinars to fellow charity lawyers on serious incidents and incorporation of charities

Michele was appointed as a Partner to the firm in March 2019 and leads on Business Development.


Having obtained a degree in History from Sussex University, Michele attended The College of Law and qualified as a solicitor in 1990. Following a long career in litigation, Michele established a consultancy practice before joining the charitable sector. Michele has written, broadcast and given training presentations on a wide range of topics.

Michele’s interests are choral music, attending concerts and visits to the theatre. She supports several young orchestras and choral groups to ensure that music education is available to young people from all backgrounds.
