Jerry Hawthorne is head of the Litigation Department. His main areas of specialisation are dispute resolution, education and employment law in which he has many years experience.
Jerry usually conducts advocacy in person on behalf of employers and employees at Employment and Employment Appeal Tribunals and he has appeared in the Court of Appeal.
Career
Following his LLB (Lond Hons) degree, Jerry Hawthorne joined Witham Weld in 1972 to undergo his articled training. He qualified as a solicitor in 1974 and became a partner in 1978. In February 2000, he was awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Education Law by Buckingham University. He has lectured staff of a London council on aspects of Employment Law and has also been invited to speak on education, employment and child protection issues at internal seminars of Roman Catholic organisations.
Personal
Jerry Hawthorne has been a Governor of a Voluntary Aided Comprehensive School in South London, an Independent Catholic Girls School in North London and is currently a Governor of an Independent Catholic Boys School in South London. For many years, he has been a Group Leader with HCPT - The Pilgrimage Trust. He has run in the London Marathon with the Jesuit Missions charity team on several occasions and hopes to take part in future runs. Jerry was born in May 1949.
