Funding organisations involved with Youth Character Building, Armed Service Charities and Medical Research and Care.
Applications will also be accepted from individuals undertaking charity run Expeditions and Work Experience Programmes.
APPLICATIONS FROM ORGANISATIONS
The Trustees of the Malcolm Chick Charity are looking at applications which fit in with the following categories. The geographical area will be the whole of England.
- Youth Character Building
for young people aged 16 to 25 years, with an emphasis on sail training
- Armed Service Charities
At the present time the limitation of the Trustees grant making in this area will be for charities supporting ex-army personnel, and to charities providing direct care for ex-army personnel, i.e. such as homes and welfare services for such persons.
The Trustees will not consider applications from organisations with an annual income of more than £500,000 and/or net assets, excluding land and buildings, with a value of more than £2M.
The Trustees currently meet in November to consider applications for funding from organisations. The Trustees only accept online applications which can be submitted from July for consideration in November. The closing date for applications for 2012 is 15 October 2012. Please do not apply before July 2012.

APPLICATIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS
For applicants for sponsorship for charity run Expeditions and Work Experience Programmes and Projects ("the Project")
Application Forms for individuals must be requested by email or by post from the address below.
Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 25 years at the time of their expedition.
In addition to the information requested on the application form please supply:-
- Copy letter from charity organising the Project confirming your acceptance on the Project and giving details of it including the cost & confirming that any grant towards the costs may be made to such charity.
- A copy of your CV.
- A letter of reference from a person in authority with knowledge of you (e.g. college lecturer, chaplain, Pastor or the like) supporting your participation in the Project or your application for support.
- A copy of your plan for raising the finances necessary to participate in the Project with details of
- financial support already pledged by friends, church, commercial sponsors and other supporters;
- money you intend to raise by your own efforts (by working, fund-raising etc.);
- your own or family savings and other resources you will be able to use.
Applications from individuals are considered throughout the year.
